Follow these simple Do’s and Don’ts when caring for your new sleep set to ensure its long life and warranty eligibility.
- Do give your new sleep set time to "air" upon removal from its plastic
packaging. And be sure to dispose of all plastic packaging as soon as
possible.
- Do carry your mattress flat on its side. It's easier to handle and you'll
be less likely to damage the mattress.
- Do keep your bedding clean. We always suggest using a mattress pad.
- Do replace the old boxspring when purchasing a new mattress. An old
boxspring may not provide sufficient support. It may appear that your
new mattress is sagging when it is actually the boxspring supporting the
mattress that has become worn.
- Do use an appropriate frame and center support for queen- and
king-size sets. Using the proper frame will ensure that your warranty
remains in effect.
- Do rotate your mattress.
- Don't smoke in bed. Stearns & Foster mattresses are manufactured as
required by federal law to resist, but not necessarily eliminate, ignition
by smoldering cigarettes. In addition, Stearns & Foster mattresses meet
the more stringent California TB603 regulation for flammability.
- Don't let anyone stand or jump on your sleep set. It wasn't built for that
type of weight distribution or abuse.
- Don't allow your mattress to get wet. Some of the upholstery materials
may compress. Protect it from water or other liquids.
- Don't place a board between your mattress and boxspring. Your sleep
set is designed as an integrated system to provide you with proper
support, and the boxspring plays an important role.
- Don't bend your new Stearns & Foster mattress more than 20 degrees.
Such treatment may damage the innerspring unit. Flex rather than bend
the mattress when going through doorways.Don't remove the law tag label at the end of your mattress. This serves
as a means of identification to establish your warranty rights.
- Don't use dry cleaning fluid of any type on your sleep set. These
chemicals will damage some of the construction materials.
